Ssg. Michael McNaughton
President George Bush visited
McNaughton and four other injured soldiers at Walter
Reed Army
Medical
Center on Jan. 17, 2003. The president declared
McNaughton a hero and praised his courage.
McNaughton, who had served in the military in such hot spots as Saudi
Arabia, Kuwait and Bosnia more than a decade ago, enlisted in the National Guard
after the 2001 terrorist attacks, telling a reporter that "I just decided I
needed to do something."

that Michael sent to me. A mutual friend named Kevin Carroll, who has
assisted in his rehabilitation hand delivered this picture to me in November
2004.
